Valerie Bertinelli and Eddie Van Halen are splitting apart due to drug use and infidelity. Many believed that it was Eddie’s fault – but according to a confession from Valerie she is partly to blame despite her ‘good girl’ image.

“I wasn’t an angel, either. I cheated, too,” Bertinelli said on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” broadcast Monday. “He claims to this day that I cheated first, but I don’t know. I don’t know about the timing.”

Bertinelli and Van Halen were married in 1981 when she was only 20. She stated that she “destroying my body,” trying to keep up with a rock-star lifestyle on the weekends and weeks off from taping her TV show, ‘One Day At A Time’. “It got to a point where whenever I heard the birds chirp, I’d be like, ‘Oh, God, no.’ It took me years after stopping the cocaine before I was able to enjoy a sunrise and enjoy the sound of birds,” she said.

The couple have been separated since 2001 – but their divorce wasn’t final until December of 2007. Together they have a 16 year old son named Wolfgang who is currently on tour with Van Halen.

The actress who is know 47 has admitted that she has had self image problems and has always turned to food to fix her problems. Yet, know she is turning things around and has become a spokeswoman for Jenny Craig after losing 40 pounds. She has a new book, “Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time.”
